1. What is the CTE program?
It is an 18-unit certification program that is open to individuals with a bachelor's degree in fields other than Education. It is offered by the CCP College of Education for those who are interested in pursuing their passion to be a teacher.
2. What courses are part of the curriculum?
All students are required to complete the following courses: The Teaching Profession, The Child and Adolescent Learner and Learning Principles, Educational Research and Evaluation, Facilitating Learner-Centered Teaching, Assessment in Learning, and Technology for Teaching and Learning.
3. Can CTE completers qualify for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers?
Yes. However, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) may require additional units depending on the LEPT applicant's undergraduate program or other relevant policies that the Commission on Higher Education will implement. It is advisable to inquire from the PRC regarding its eligibility requirements before taking the CTE program.
4. Can CTE completers already teach after the semester?
Yes, because completers are expected to have developed the necessary competencies to be able to teach. However, to become a licensed teacher, one must pass the LEPT.
5. What will be the learning modality for the program?
CCP will continue the fully online mode of instruction consisting of synchronous (real-time classes) and asynchronous learning (self-paced and self-directed learning). Students must have a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone that can access Google apps and video conferencing tools, and an internet connection.
6. How will students be assessed for learning?
CCP education is outcomes-based. Students will be assessed as to whether they gained the necessary competencies for a course to be able to gain credit units. Requirements may vary per course.
7. How long will this take?
The program will run for a total of 18 weeks or two cycles of 9 weeks each.
8. What will be the schedule of classes?
For every 9-week cycle, there will be 3 courses and each course will be composed of 3 hours of synchronous learning or scheduled online meetings per week (Saturdays). Also, there will be schedules of asynchronous learning which are recommended hours for students to complete their tasks at their own pace.
9. What are the requirements for enrollment?
The documentary requirements are the following:
a. Transfer Credential
b. Certificate of Good Moral Character
c. Certified Copy of Grades
d. PSA-authenticated birth certificate
e. Updated ID picture
f. Photocopy of Valid ID/Passport
g. Study permit (for government employees)
